What is

Physical Therapy

?

The physical therapy team at ICEC provides children with the support needed to acquire skills for moving and playing such as sitting up, walking, throwing, and jumping. Our PTs provide individualized therapy and parent training to help your child to reach their greatest potential.

What is physical therapy?

Early Intervention Physical Therapy addresses motor skills ranging from head control, sitting, walking, jumping, or other motor milestones. Sessions are play-based and fun to disguise the "work" aspects of building strength, flexibility and/or coordination.

What skills do you work on in PT?

Physical Therapists evaluate a child's strength, range of motion, muscle tone, balance, reflexes, motor planning and gross motor skills (I.e., sitting, rolling, walking, running). They develop a plan and implement exercises to help the child move safely and independently in their environment.

Does my child need physical therpay?

Your child may benefit from physical therapy if you notice any of the following:

  • Delayed Walking
  • Rolling
  • Clumsy or Off-Balanced Sitting or Walking
  • Your Child Prefers to Turn Their Head Only to One Side
  • Pain or Weakness Following an Injury
